I think this is a great idea. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to see how modern electronics are built with obsolescence baked-in from the start. Modularization and it's relevant economies are being shoved aside by mass integration and limited lifespans. I know most people would rather not fix their own TV sets and radios, but that doesn't mean it should be impossible for those that want to.
