We most definitely want to continue the LAN parties, but unfortunately the ability to cover the room cost is getting more difficult. We do not feel raising prices will help anyone so atm we are going to continue are discussions on what path CCGA will be taking for 2010.

As far as I know there have been no planned public dates. In 2009 we had a major drop in attendance that resulted in the cancellation of one of the 4 lans and if not for the generosity of a couple crew members the Oct LAN would have been canceled. With the lack of attendance and rising room costs, the crew is going to be reevaluating how/when we hold parties. For awhile we may go to private invite only Lans until the economy recovers and we can make a evaluation at that time as to what we will do.

We started CCGA Approximately 8-9 years ago. As the Party grew we picked up members and lost some. The crew , with the exception of Mr. Lefty and myself were all childless. Now we all have thriving families that take up more of our time as well as thriving careers( for some at least). The time we were once able to dedicate to the LAN is no longer available so in part we must share the blame for the decline. But no matter what we were able to do the economy is the biggest culprit to our decline.

I would not expect to hear anything soon since the holidays are upon us but hopefully we will be able to officially apprise everyone on the future of our LAN after the holidays are over .

.}(BUMP){.

Has anyone at CCGA started talking about doing any parties this year?  I know that they won't be coming around like previous years, but I'd be interested to hear if CCGA is tossing around ideas on how to breathe new life into the LAN.

Would anyone be interested in a micro-LAN-party in the interim of CCGA getting their barrings together?  I've been mostly playing single-player RPGs since the last LAN, and would like to get back to some good ole' multi-player.  I could possibly host a 4 to 8 player LAN at my place or we could organize a time for a bunch of CCGA-goers to go to another venue if there's more interest...

Just throwing that out there.

We are. atm there has been discussion on having a couple informal lans where everyone including crew will split the cost of the room. Others are working out the details so that is all I can really say atm. Hopefully someone more in the know will be able to fill in the details once we get things set with the hotel.

Are there any local LAN's hosted like at someones house.  With like 5-20 people?  I moved from Idaho and used to do that every two weeks.  It was great.

Hey guys,

Just moved to NC, Wilmington area, and found this site! I run NYCgaming.org in the city and just wondering if you guys were doing any LAN's, or needed any help!  I believe Pineville is like 4 hours away from me though :/  But I could trek up for a LAN if something is def planned.

Also, anyone down by the wilmington area?  I was looking to do some LANning down here maybe once a month if theres enough interest!  Let me know.  I think there is a bunch of carolina gamers that hang out in the gamesurge #carolina channel.  Any of you guys in there?

@Napier: CCGA is based mostly around the Charlotte area, with a few scattered around the Raleigh area, if I'm not mistaken. I don't think they've thrown lan parties outside of Charlotte. Currently, their lan parties are suspended due to lack of participation, but last we heard, they are trying to work something out.

As far as the Wilmington area goes, have you tried checking out the UNC-W campus? Check with their computer clubs and see if they can point you in the right direction. I did some googling on Wlimington lan parties, and found this facebook group to get you started:

Darkstorm, a correction, our parties haven't been suspended, we've been mucking around with schedules, format and other issues.

We are in the midst of putting the final signatures on contracts with our venue, and should be able to announce the dates by the end of this week.

Thanks,

Lefty

My apologies. Wasn't trying to say you guys/gals were defunct, just that there wasn't any LANs planned. I *did* say that you all were trying to work something out....give me a little credit, eh?   Grin
