Title: Oct 2010 LAN: Games list
Post by: Darkstorm on September 16, 2010, 09:59:20 am
We're at the one month mark right now, so I thought it prudent to ask my fellow time-wasters PC gamers what they're planning on playing. To be honest, I haven't really gone out game shopping since the last LAN, so my own list is going to be short-but-sweet:

Heavy rotation:

* Team Fortress 2
* Alien Swarm
* Civilization 4 (vanilla)

Others I have:

* Unreal Tournament 3
* FarCry 2 (via Jitspoe at last LAN)
* Call of Duty 4
* FEAR #1
* Red Alert 3
* Quake Wars
* Dawn of War 2 + Chaos Rising
* CS:Source (only if we can avoid yelling smack across the room though)
* Quake Live (can we LAN this with limit internet?)

Planning on buying:

* Left 4 Dead 2

That sounds like an awesome list.
I'm considering getting Civ V, but don't know when I'll finally drop the money to get it.
I recently got a notice that my Quake Live account is no longer good.  I never really got it working properly.
If I can get 5 people interested in a board game, I'd really like to try Cosmic Encounter (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/Cosmic%20Encounter/cosmic-encounter-rulebook.pdf). :)
I have one extra copy of Battlefront 2 and Empire at War if I can find my discs, since I picked up the SW pack on steam this weekend.

Haven't played Civ IV in years dug up my copy and I think we could do some more source mods like Pirates Vikings and Knights II or Age Of Chivalry which turned out to be great fun last year.

Not that this has to be at the LAN... but I'd be up for some FEAR Coop sometime. I think you can go up to 8 players or so with the coop mod.

I only posted Civ4 to show people what I'm playing heavily right now. As much as I love Sid Myer's Civ games, wouldn't they take too long to play for a LAN party? I've known games that have gone on for days. And that doesn't count the whole Play-By-Email component, which I've been doing with my cousin in Iceland for the last 3 months playing ONE game. That said, if someone knows a good quick-fire multiplayer scenario, then that sounds cool.

@botsmuggler: Age of Chivalry sounds kind of cool, I'll d/l it tonight and give it a whirl.

Fortunately we have days...  er...  Well more than a day.

Would anyone want to play the Blitzkrieg mod for Company Of Heroes?  It + some large custom maps with 8 people would be really fun.

I've been meaning to try Goldeneye Source for a while; it was mentioned on the pcgamer podcast not too long ago, so I recently downloaded it.  I'll try it out if I get any downtime, which is getting more and more rare.

L4D & L4D2 is on sale this mid-week on Steam!  Both for 10.19 or 6.79 individually.  If you don't already have them, grab 'em.
