The July 21st Carolina ARMAGEDDON Wrap up!

The whole CCGA Crew agrees that this past Saturday was the best Carolina ARMAGEDDON! to date.  Everything went so smoothly we had to pinch ourselves to make sure we weren't dreaming. Of course, with the amount of Bawls consumed at the party, sleep wasn't an option!

The Crew met at The Golf Village Friday night and setup all the tables, chairs, power drops, and network cabling.  Kudos to Umpa and Capt RR for the excellent job of overhead network drops that kept the floors free of massive amounts of duct tape.  Setup went so well most of the crew were home by 8:00 PM.

Bright and early we were back in order to setup the servers and switches at 7:00 am.  A few of you fraggers were there to help around 8:00 am.  We really appreciate the help!  Also, thanks to NIC for the loan of some servers.

Spectrallight and Parts*Pimp got everybody in and seated in a very fast time.  There was rarely a line to get in.

We had all the servers up and running by 9:30, and except for one quick reroute of power cables and an extra DHCP server coming online, things were in place by the time all you fraggers got in the door.  Free play stared at 10:00 and the day just got better from there.

Spectere kept things going with his excellent MC skillz, keeping all of us to schedule times.  The Hardcore Unreal Tournament started promptly at 11:00 am and finished at little ahead of time.  This Tourney was a top 50% advance to the next bracket till there were 4 dominating players left.  The order of finish was:

1st: h8.sys|Badguy  2nd: h8.sys|Darbosama  3rd: Superbee   4th: Aphextwin

During the morning, a reporter and photographer from the Charlotte Observer were there doing an article on the CCGA and Carolina ARMAGEDDON!  It was very good, and quite a few of you were quoted.  You can check out the story online here.

More free play and then on the first ever Counter-Strike tournament.  The action was fast and furious in the tourney.  After several rounds the winning team was the "TGR Wannabes" from Clemson.  These guys were so skilled that they were actually talking to people around them as they sliced, shot, and diced their opponents into dust. The winning team members were Merc, WeaselDX, Jay, and Bloodletter.  For their 1st place finish they each got a bag of Tostidos and an extra entry for the tourney prize pool.  Here they are in all their glory!

After the CS tournament there was a break, and then on to the Mystery Tournament.  This months tourney was THE SERIOUS SAM SMACKDOWN.  Players were randomly partnered.  They then played in a Serious Sam Deathmatch on ONE machine.  Each time a player was killed in the game, he had to tag his partner, who then sat down and continued to play.  It was hilarious!  Not only did we provide lag-free gaming, but a cardio workout too!  The winners and new ruling SMACKDOWN kings are GlockenRock/Garret.

They took home a set of Alienware/EverGlide and Alienware/FUNC mousepads courtesy of Alienware.

Speaking of prizes, we had lots to give away.  First and foremost was the coveted GeForce 3 card courtesy of  Two Geeks.  Everybody wanted it, but it went home with U-Bob, from Charlotte.  U-Bob, $100.00 bucks for the thing, that's my final offer!  lol!

As for the rest of the prizes,  here are the winners in no particular order:

FeatherHead - Sage Hat

Nico Fuentes - Global network T-shirt

Big Mo - Warlords Battlecry game

UScrooge - Global Rankings cap

Aphextwin   -    Aiken's Sanity game

Killjoi    - EverGlide mousepad

Dodge - M1A2 game

Merc - Thief II Strat Guide

Glockenrock   - Sage Hat

Terminator1000 -Diakanta Shirt

[NIC]Lobotomy - Sage Hat

[CCGA]SueZQ - mplayer boxers

h8sys|BadGuy - cpu cooler

Bloodletter - Tomb Raider game

FeatherHead - Final Fantasy VII game

Jay - Tomb Raider game

Merc - Rounded Hard Drive Cable

h8.sys|Darbosama - Mplayer boxers

[vE]-.38*Special - Bawls T-shirt

Superbee - TechOnWeb T-shirt

Aphextwin - Penny Arcade T-shirt

If we missed anybody, drop us a note so we can get you added to the list.

Whew,  as you can see we really scored this month for prizes.  Next month we hope to do the same.

SueZQ came up with the "Name Game".  You were given a card with a handle on it and had to find the person and get them to sign it. If you card was drawn, you and the person that signed the card won.  In this case the two cards (four winners) were given boxers and t-shirts.  Maybe next month we call it the "SueZQ Underwear Search".

After all the prizes were awarded, we did a pickup game of pickup Fragball. It was a massive 24 player best of three match.  If you have never played FragBall, it will really get your heart pumping!

After the Fragball tourney, it was free play until the pack up time of 9:00 p.m..  Who knew 12 hours could fly by so fast!  The were may games being played, UT, CS, FragBall, Quake 3, Elite Force, AOE2, Mahjong *gasp*, Operation Flashpoint, and Day of Defeat.  There were so many peeps playing DoD that we may add this as  tourney in the future.

We are going to chalk this party up as a major success!  The Golf Village liked us and we like them!  Looks like the CCGA and Carolina ARMAGEDDON! has a new home.  A lot of hard work goes into making these parties go smoothly, so everybody give a standing ovation to all the CCGA crew.  While your up, give yourselves a few hearty pats on the back.  Carolina ARMAGEDDON! has the greatest bunch of fraggers we could ever hope for!

Carolina ARMAGEDDON!....ARE YOU READY?

Until Armageddon!
