FANTASTIC!!! Yep, that's the only word that fits the June 16 Carolina ARMAGEDDON!. This was the biggest lan we've ever had. 41 people showed at this one. We had sign-ups going on right up to midnight Friday. We practically filled the entire facility. You know what? That means we are going to find a bigger one in the near future. And we are working on it now! Now, back to the show. We opened right on time at 9:00 am and had everybody in and seated by 10:00 am. We had a little problem with the network that hung us up, till the magnificent Capt RR determined that we had a bad switch. Three Cheers for Capt RR. All those lights on and the darn thing wouldn't work. Go figure?!? After the network stabilized, we started right in with free play. And free play it was! We had UT, Starcraft, Elite Force, Quake 3, Serious Sam, and Counter-Strike. Oh, did we ever have Counter Strike. We have been wanting to get into CS, and it looks like we finally hit critical mass. As a matter of fact and for the record, THERE WILL BE A CS TOURNEY at the next Carolina ARMAGEDDON! The Unreal Tourney had two huge brackets, since almost everybody signed up. It finally came down to ia.fuzzybunny and |Deus|. |Deus| won the UT crown (again) and received a PC TOTE as a prize!
And speaking of prizes, we gave away a great deal of them. Let's see, 5 or 6 t-shirts, a PcMods neon, Gamespy Arcade license, Thermal Take SuperOrb, a case of BAWLS, the giant Barrel O' Cheese Balls, AMD yo-yo's, squeeze toys, and mouse pads. The Alienware and EverGlide mouse pads were the prizes for our Mystery Tournament. The NOT SO Serious Sam Tourney Deathmatch. It had a very great reception. Here it is for those who didn't make it (shame). We paired players randomly. Then they got to chose which computer they wanted to play on. One person used the keyboard, and the other used the mouse. You gotta see one of these to believe them! The winning pair took home the mousepads! The Mystery Tourney may become a staple at Carolina ARMAGEDDON! You absolutely have to see a room full of fraggers holding their hands up in the air, waiting for a 3-2-1 countdown. Hilarious! We played right up to the deadline of 9:00 pm. We tried to even fit in a pickup CS tourney, but simply ran out of time. The CS team from Gastonia, NC took home the BIG Barrel O' Cheese Balls. Somewhere in all this, there were Fragball matches, grudge matches, and even a few games of *gasp* FreeCell. We had plenty of cookies and cupcakes (Thx, Bitchin!), Pepsi, Mountain Dew, and plenty of Bawls. Once again, we sold HUGE amounts of ice-cold Bawls. Over 12 cases of the stuff! I know that this is just a small dose of the Carolina ARMAGEDDON! You must come to one and get in on all the action. At Carolina ARMAGEDDON!, there is something for everyone. And best of all, YOU. Without all the great fraggers, all the fun, and all the excitement you bring, Carolina ARMAGEDDON! is just a bunch of cables and switches. From the CCGA Crew, THANKS!!! Carolina ARMAGEDDON! returns July 21... |
