March 20th Carolina ARMAGEDDON!

~Flashback to Saturday morning setup at approx. 8am ~

MeatShield: Hey, Lefty.. it looks like we are going to have some pretty nice weather for a change for the LAN party.. Great temperatures, the sun is shining, and it isn't supposed to be very hot today either.

Lefty: Yeah!.. we are expecting a pretty good turnout, and we have some new games to play.. I am to expecting a really nice party..

~then the network died on table 1~

Mayday!, mayday!.. table 1 is going down!!!” Intermittent connections, and high ping!.. Pull out of port 13, going to 14 for backup captain!.. It's a no go!.. no lights!.. Medic!!! We need a switch, stat!.. “drop me another line!” Ahh.. all better now..

“Sir!.. I'm seeing more problems on the radar!.. Seat 39!.. network card problems! Spectrallight flies in to reboot.. connectivity resolved!.. Seat 6!... Lagginess, and slow pc response!.. Umpa, Lefty, Specrallight approach to gang-tackle the situation. It appears to be the OS.. but maybe memory (new memory installed).. not the memory.. Abandon ship!!.. Captain!.. Another.. seat 42, bad monitor.! TDA crew dispatches to the location with a new LCD…(sweeeet, nice touch!).

Arr!!... captain!.. my display is not working with BF Vietnam!... Trying the bad monitor that was replaced with the LCD. Problem aborted!..at least for now…

~end of scenario~

Whew!.. What a day for chaos. Oh, and I forgot to mention that we had a slight heat issue about mid-day, cranking up them fans in the 4 corners. Other than this, everything else seemed to go very smooth. Battlefield Vietnam seems to rule the day, with Call of Duty not far behind. The tournament play went very smooth, especially Call of Duty. And speaking of Call of Duty… how did everyone like getting owned by a 10 yr old?! … Nice work TreVoR!. The BF 1942 tournament did see some very good match play, and good teamwork. I think we had Halo as well… although I don't recall such a turnout with that one. And if I recall correctly, UT 2004 was available to play as well… didn't see much of that one!.. Maybe at next LAN. But be sure that you will probably see BF Vietnam have a place in a tournament in the upcoming LAN. And what did ever happen to that game of C&C Generals that was supposed to be started? Too many people jamming out to CCR driving the Vespa.

And oooohhh.. we have prizes too.. We at CCGA would like to again thank the [MAD]Hatters group for donating a registered version of Visual Studio worth about $700..

As I had mentioned earlier, we did have tournaments.. so heeeerrrrreee are our winners !!

Well, it seemed that after the sun went down, so did the number of computer/network problems that occurred. It has been a long time coming since we have had such a troublesome LAN to begin with.. but we persevere...and thank you for your patience.

CCGA would like to give MANY, MANY thanks to those that didn't have anything better to do on a Saturday night but to help and clean up and put away all the tables/chairs. This is such a great help!..

So another ARMAGEDDON comes to a close. Thanks again to everyone that came out to make this party another LAN to enjoy… 2 more months to go!!

MAY 15 th !!!!

Carolina ARMAGEDDON!....ARE YOU READY?

Until Armageddon!
